This exhibition seeks to display the full collection of stained glass windows collected by King Ferdinand II alongside the meticulous restoration process they were subject to that also opened up the scope for deeper research into their origins and their interrelationships with other collections built up by the king’s family members. The exhibition furthermore includes glass pieces from the Pena collection that also belonged to King Ferdinand with the overall objective of highlighting the royal interest in artistic glass works beyond stained glass windows, a rare passion and perhaps hitherto unique in Portugal.
